Join the art club to express yourself through painting, sculpture, stage design and more.  Showcase your talent at the Annual Student Art Show!  The Art Club at Marquette continues to grow as well as support other clubs at Marquette.  The possibilities are endless.

The Art Club meets Tuesday's during Enrichment.

As a group, the Art Club completes any art related tasks around Marquette... from painting yard signs to designing and building the sets for the Theater Department.  Students can also use this time to work on personal art or collaborate on art projects.  Art Club also performs service projects within the community, such as painting rain barrels for the Illinois American Water Company, a mural at the Alton Auto Tire and we participate in the public mandala project at the Mississippi Earthtones Festival held in downtown Alton every year in September. This year we are screen printing  and selling our own t-shirts to raise money for an overnight trip to Chicago where we enjoy a Public Art walking tour of the city and visit the Art Institute.

Matthew Cook

Matthew Cook, 2016 MCHS Graduate &

Current student at Parsons, the New School for Design in New York City

"Not only is Marquette one of the top schools in the area for academics and athletics, but they are also at the top for art. My art instructor, Molly Velikis, has always let me express my creativity the way I perceived the art task and not how the normal student would go about it. She would always support me to break boundaries. I started to pursue and love art and decided I wanted to make a career in fashion because of the well-rounded education I received at Marquette."

Matthew applied and was accepted to the top three art schools in the country. He received a total of $184,000 in scholarships from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, California, and Parsons the New School for Design in New York City. These artistic scholarships are primarily based on your GPA, ACT, and AP classes, which Marquette prepared Matthew well for.
